Minnesota Avenue Main Street

Minnesota Avenue Main Street (MAMS), a program under H Street Main Street, Inc. (HSMS) works with corridor businesses and stakeholders to strengthen the commercial district at the heart of our community.  The Minnesota Avenue corridor is one of the largest historic commercial districts located east of the Anacostia River, home to downtown Ward 7. Minnesota Avenue Main Street is committed to ensuring that the small businesses and residents who have long anchored the community can benefit from and help accelerate its significant growth, with new and planned developments. Minnesota Avenue Main Street is a designated DC Main Streets program, which is funded by the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development.
 
Small businesses located on Minnesota Avenue NE from East Capitol St NE to Nannie Helen Burrough Avenue NE may be eligible for grant assistance and advisory services from our organization.

 

A Ward 7 clean up to celebrate Earth Day and kick off our official Ward 7 clean up campaign!

Join us this Earth Day as we come together to clean up our ward and show pride in our neighborhoods.

Cleaning supplies will be provided! Meet us at the designated meeting point to pick up supplies and join a group, or simply grab what you need and head out to clean up your own block or neighborhood if you prefer.

Every bag of trash collected helps make our community cleaner, greener, and stronger.

MAMS works to strengthen the historic Minnesota Avenue corridor by supporting local businesses, preserving and strengthening one of Ward 7’s key commercial corridors.

The FRESHFARM Minnesota Avenue Farm Stand operates on Thursday afternoons, bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to the East River Park Shopping Mall parking lot near the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road (by Safeway, the library, and CVS).

We help enhance the physical environment of our main streets’ commercial district through clean teams and streetscape improvements as well as support storefront and interior upgrades for small business owners

We proudly promote our neighborhood commercial district, individual business owners, and entrepreneurs through events and campaigns designed to build community vibrancy, increase activity, and help the bottom line.
As a Main Street America™ Affiliate program, the Minnesota Avenue Main Street is a recognized program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities who share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Affliliate programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by the National Main Street Center.
 
The Minnesota Avenue Main Street is a designated DC Main Streets program and is funded in part by the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development.
