Anacostia Murals Festival: 100 Artists. 100 Murals. 18 Days.
This spring, Washington, D.C.’s east-of-the-river communities will transform into a vibrant outdoor gallery as the CHBC Arts Foundation presents the Anacostia Murals Festival—a bold, large-scale public art experience featuring more than 100 artists creating over 100 murals in just 18 days.
From May 1–18, 2026, walls and public spaces across Anacostia, Pennsylvania Avenue East, Minnesota Avenue, and Deanwood will come alive with color, storytelling, and culture—turning the neighborhood into one of the nation’s newest open-air art museums.
The festival will feature:
The festival kicks off on May 1 with a community celebration featuring live music, local food vendors, and conversations highlighting the power of public art in shaping neighborhood identity.
Presented by the CHBC Arts Foundation, this initiative builds on a strong legacy of more than 150 murals created across Wards 6, 7, and 8—supporting local artists, uplifting youth, and strengthening community through art.
Come experience the transformation and witness Anacostia become a living, breathing canvas.
